Nintendo Sales Back on Track

According to NPD Group, that tracks sales of video games in the U.S., the hand held Nintendo DS– including the newly launched Nintendo DSi XL, have enabled Nintendo to set a record for maximum units sold in March. This has enabled Nintendo to release higher sales figure compared to last year. Nintendo has sold more than 700,000 units in the U.S. alone. However with the release of Nintendo DSi XL, Nintendo expects to achieve a higher sales target this quarter.

The sales of Nintendo’s Wii console for the month of March were 560, 000, which accounted for the larger chunk of Nintendo’s hardware sale. Surprisingly, Nintendo witnessed an even greater sale period of its hardware, even after the Christmas and New Year holidays. Nintendo contributes the increased sale in units due to popular game launches such as Super Mario and Pokémon. In the U.S games market Nintendo accounted for 59 percent of hardware sold in the month of March.

  • Pokémon HeartGold
  • New Super Mario Bros
