How to change Excel Cell Color using the ‘Conditional Formatting’

Follow the steps shown in this video and you will be able to change  Excel background color based on other cell value.

On The start Screen

  • Click on the Excel Sheet
  • Open the workbook where you want to make the changes
  • In current examples, we will set conditional formats
  • We have taken high value of 70 and low value of 55
  • Select the cells to be formatted .
  • In this example we are selecting the cells from B2 to B13
  • In the Styles group click Conditional formatting
  • Hover the mouse on Highlight Cell Rows and then to Greater Than to format the high values.
  • In the greater than window delete the value that appears and click on Cell F5 with the high values entered .
  • Click the drop down lists for formats and click Custom format
  • In the format cells window click the Fill tab and then click the color of your choice for the higher value .
  • Clock Ok . Click Ok again to close the greater than dialog box .
  • You can see the cells greater than value 70 are colored green .
  • Now to color the cells low t value you can apply second conditional formatting rule to the cell .
  • Select the cells to be formatted .
  • In this examples we are selecting the cells from B2-B13
  • In the Styles group click Conditional formatting
  • Hover the mouse on Highlight Cell Rows and then to less Than to format the low values.
  • In the less than window delete the value that appears and click on Cell F6 with the low values entered
  • Click the drop down lists for formats and click Custom format
  • In the format cells window click the Fill tab and then click the color of your choice for the higher value
  • Clock Ok . Click Ok again to close the less than dialog box
  • You can see the cells lesser than value 55 are colored red
  • In case you want to increase or decrease value you just need to change the value of high and low scorer. the changes would be done accordingly .

How to Make a FlowChart in Excel 2010

Steps:

  • Open Excel
  • Click on insert tab  and go to the illustration group and then click Shapes .
  • Then select any shape on the flow chart section
  • Create the shape on the worksheet by clicking and dragging the mouse .
  • Insert more shapes from the insert group to complete the flow chart layout .
  • Select the desired shapes and align them by pressing the control key on your keyboard .
  • Now go to the arrange group , click align and choose the alignment option of your choice .
  • Repeat the same process to align the other shapes .
  • To add any text on the shape , select any shape and then right click on it and select add a text .
  • Type the required text in selected shape .
  • Repeat the process on other shapes .
  • Select the text box of any shape and then go to the home tab .
  • Choose thebasis text option from text box
  • Follow the same procedure for other text boxes of flow chart .
  • To add lines and arrows on the flow chart , go to the insert tab , click shapes and in the line section choose the preferred options .
  • You can create the shape by clicking and dragging the mouse.
  • Repeat the same process to create more lines in flow chart .
  • To edit the outline of the line or arrow select it and the shape styles group click shape out line.
  • Click on weight and then choose the line option , repeat the same option .
  • To change the style of the shapes of flow chart select the shape .
  • Open the shape style menu  and then choose the option of your choice .
  • Repeat the same process to change the style of other shapes in flowchart .
  • Done .

Formula syntax and usage of the ROUNDUP function in Microsoft Excel.

Syntax : ROUNDUP(number, num_digits)

Number Any Real number required to rounded up.

Num_digits : Number of digits Required to round up.

If num_digits > 0, then number is rounded up to the specified decimal places.

If num_digits=0, then number is rounded up to the nearest integer.

If num_digits < 0, then number is rounded up to the left of the decimal point.

Hours = [h]:mm:ss
Minutes = [m]:ss
Seconds = [ss]

Create a worksheet and type the below given values. Make sure to use a colon (:) to separate the numbers.
A1: 12:36:58
A2: 12:25:30
A3: 11:19:23

Type the below mentioned formula into cell A4. Excel automatically formats the result correctly .

A4: =SUM(A1:A3)

Excel displays 36:21:51 as the total.
