Ad scam on Facebook®

Ad scams are known to reset the desktop and browsers. An ad scam was detected on finding that an unknown website called was the third largest advertiser on Facebook, purchasing 1.75 billion ad impressions within the third quarter. Matt Cutts, a software engineer at Google, found that when you visit, the site instantly prompts at an installation of a browser plug-in. The “terms and conditions” link takes you to http// which has phrases like “If Chrome (”CR”) is installed on your PC we may change the default setting of your home page on CR to” If is Facebook’s 3rd biggest advertiser, wonder how many are installing this without reading the matter in fine print that says “Installing the toolbar includes managing the browser default search settings and setting your homepage to”.

This is called affiliate marketing and there are plenty of third-party companies who find ways of asking people to agree to terms and conditions in exchange for a plug-in that unlocks a game or some other feature.  It’s not necessarily illegal when users offer their consent. More importantly, it also prompts a question over the advertising practices. If this is the third-largest advertiser on Facebook, then it would have caught the attention of someone at that company. Again, this is not to say Facebook is doing something wrong.

With Google Chrome coming up as a strong player, it has managed to garner a major share of the web browser market once held by Internet Explorer of Microsoft. The toughest competitors of Internet Explorer in the market include Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, which offer enhanced browsing speeds and an enhanced browsing experience. Microsoft IE9 (Internet Explorer 9) is claimed to have a better uncluttered User Interface (UI) to provide more onscreen space and many more added features.

With the launch of Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft has a product that will enable it to fight the competition with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Internet Explorer 9 is a sleek and much revamped attempt to claw its way back to the lead and gain its lost ground. Mozilla® Firefox 4 Not to Have Hardware Acceleration for Linux®

Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Release Candidate (RC) is the latest version of the web browser. It is one of the most popular web browsers in the world. The new version of this browser is one of the secure and user friendly versions available. There are lots more new options available in the newest version of Firefox. Firefox shipped free with Mac and Linux operating systems. It is also available free for Windows also. Firefox 4.0 has also so many new features like it has interactive audio and video HTML features. These features make this browser interesting and friendlier. Linux is also getting popular these days due to its new graphical user interface and people are preferring it because of good security and networking features.

There are different versions of Firefox available for both Linux and Windows. Firefox 4.0 has the hardware acceleration technique which is great if you are using Windows as your operating system. It can work on both Windows XP and Mac OS also. In Linux, hardware acceleration had to be disabled and also WebGL for Linux drivers. Some of the closed source drivers are compatible with Linux and can also run something similar to Direct2D on Linux.

Browsers are getting better with every new version and Internet users are demanding more from them. So, it is very important for all including Firefox to get the perfect application and to also get a wide consumer base. As Linux is also getting more users, Firefox has to reduce the gap between Windows and Linux. They have to find a perfect solution for this problem.
