Plans of Apple® to make televisions could be a rumor

Recently there have been rumours that Apple may make an entry in the television market. The origin of the speculation for this rumour has gathered momentum from the fact that Apple has made an investment of about forty billion dollars in display components technology. The company has not disclosed anything specifically regarding its plans. However, it has briefed about entering into an agreement on long term basis with three separate component display suppliers.

A bigger section of analysts believe now that the investment is an indication on the part of Apple that it is intending to take entry in the market for televisions. In an earlier report, investment institution Piper Jaffary of Wall Street remarked that components for which Apple has invested may be utilized in iPads and iPhones.

If the speculation turns up to be true, it will not be a surprising move on the part of Apple, because for the last few years Apple is planning for diversification of some part of its business. As per Gene Munster, an analyst of Piper Jaffray, Apple may make an entry into the TV market with the production of 50 inch-LCDs. The television will also extend access to a clod-based version of iTunes as stated by Munster.

As estimated by Munster,  flat panel televisions numbering about two hundred twenty million may be available for sale in the market during the next year, and approximately half of them will be connected with Internet. In case of Apple, for this sort of diverse business activities in the market of televisions can fetch them huge profits in the long term. As per an estimate of Munster, Apple can get additional two and half billion dollars revenue from the television market in 2012.

Is it the end of line for Mac?

If there is one debate that will never end then it has to the one related with our ever growing list of techno gadgets.  For those who have experienced the power of Apple Mac OS, there can be only two eras for them. One before the Mac OS when life was complicated and the other after its invention which is right before our eyes, the age when Apple has spread its wings and we have revolutionary products like iPods and iPads.

The biggest difference between all three of these devices is that all of them run on a different OS. While Mac is the oldest of the three and has been around the corner for quite some time and has been analyzed by the critics very minutely, as a result it has stood the test of times very boldly and proudly. But the iOS of iPods and iPads are more dynamic because they have an invaluable function of loading applications; it makes these devices more global and their usability increase many folds.

Many developers who have contributed for the iPhone OS unanimously agree that there will be a day when Mac will be replaced by these new generations’ operating systems but for now Mac is still standing on a pretty firm ground. And that is going to be the case for quite some time to come.

One area of concern was the shift of language as the old ones were based on Cocoa and Graphic C.  All the developers were in the favor that both of these tools have the best interfacing and are more users friendly that the other applications but not many are concerned about this phenomenon.  They all seem to agree on the common point that the only constant I the software industry is change hence even if we might be comfortable with graphic C, things will be heavily different in the next 5 or 10 years hence the notion of changing the language is not very out of context.

In the end all I say that Mac has stood firm in these days of fierce competition and now it’s sensing a danger because of its own evolved OS, but all the rumors must be put aside and Mac must be enjoyed till it can be. As it will take quite some time for iOS to become as dependable and famous as Mac, Since Mac has made many improvements then reached this stature while the other Apple OS have been around for only a short amount of time.

Apple hit today, Google following

The development of mobile based OS is a subject of great interest these days. Developers from all around the world are into application development that is the next phase after OS development. Developers from all around the world are more interested in developing for Apple’s OS these days but they expect to see Google’s android to be the leading environment for near future. Apple proves to be quite promising as of today but it would certainly come up with a downfall compared to the revolutionary development of Android.

Comparison:

The comparison was done through a survey as well as through word of mouth. In the nutshell, developers from the top line of mobile application development consider Android to be open to many different changes that could be implemented in the future. They also feel that Android give developers with more options in order to implement variations in the applications of the future. Apple’s iOS is not that susceptible to changes of this sort.

The survey was conducted with some 2733 developers from the Appcelerator Titanium Developers group and they were asked about the opportunities that both Google and Apple give you in their respective OS. Apple is defined as the more controlled environment that does not allow people to develop cross platform applications that limit the applications developed to be used in Apple devices only. Android developments on the other end accept all types of cross development tools to give maximum use ability to their applications.

As of now, developers are developing Titanium application for iPhones and iPads more than any other platforms. Not even android and find that to be an interesting job for present. They have a large count of Apple based applications while a very few Android based ones.

Apple’s environment:

Apple is pretty strict about the application development. They want the applications to be designed strictly in Objective-C, C++, or JavaScript as being dealt with by the web engine of Apple iOS and the same languages have to be used for other developments as they are the only ones listed in the Apple’s Documentation for APIs. No other tool can be used in order to create any application, not even the simple and the most recognized ones as Adobe Flash. Their main motto is to keep such third party tools of development stay away from getting authorized within Apple. They believe that such tools create substandard applications that hinder the iOS development on the whole.

Google’s environment:

Google on the other hand has developed Android in a way as to give maximum liberty to people from all around the world to take part in developing the best and the most effective applications for the platform. You can use all possible third party tools in order to make an application look unique and elegant as well as that serves the function that you are interested in. Silverlight and Adobe Flash are both compatible with the Android OS and developers are quite positive in having an excellent experience developing applications for Android for future as they see it open and susceptible to more changes.

Some of the Sub-Projects of Norton  are:

  • Norton Connect.

It is an application for iPhones, iPads, and Android Phones with which they can connect to Norton online backup or Norton 360. It gives them access to all the files they have stored using the above mentioned backup software. This application would be available for download from iPhone store or from the online Android market.

  • Norton Mobile.

It is an application for downloading Norton software directly on mobile phones.

  • Norton DNS.

It is a DNS which filters the data for more reliability, safe browsing, and faster internet connection. It enhances the browsing experience by providing various services like antiphishing, antimalware, and antispyware at the DNS level.

  • Norton for Smart Devices.

Recently Norton has announced a strategic partnership with Mocana Corporation for initiating the Norton Smart Device project. Under this project Norton will key solutions for the protection of smart devices. This will be done by securely upgrading the devices firmware, operating system, and applications for protecting them over the internet. Norton has plans to partner with major smart device manufactures for intelligently upgrading the protection technology on their products.

Critical Vulnerability Found in Adobe Flash and Acrobat

For those who haven’t updated their Adobe Flash player yet, here’s a pretty good reason to do so right now. Adobe just released a security advisory Friday reporting a critical vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 and its earlier versions for Macintosh, Linux, Windows and Solaris operating systems. It also affects the authplay.dll component found in Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat products version 9.3.2 and below. Adobe reports that the said security vulnerability “could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.”

Adobe Concerns

Adobe was also quick to note that there were reports that this security flaw is being maliciously exploited. However, it failed to provide a concrete look on how attackers have taken control of Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Perhaps Steve Jobs, notorious for his adamant refusal to ship iPads with Adobe Flash Player, seem to have proven himself wise in refusing to integrate it in the iPad system. Jobs have waded through months of public lambasting from Adobe Flash Player’s fans when he announced that iPad will not carry the player in iPad earlier this year. Deemed as one of iPad’s caveat, the lack of Adobe Player support seems justified in terms of security vulnerabilities.

To date Adobe has not released a security patch to address this issue. So what are Adobe users to do?

Solution

Adobe suggests that Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 users upgrade to the newer Adobe Flash Player 10.1.53.64. Users of Adobe AIR 1.5.3.9130 and earlier versions are recommended to download the latest Adobe AIR 2.0.2.12610. For those who can’t use the auto-update tool built-in the program, users can safely download a patched version of Flash Player 9, Flash Player 9.0.277.0 available for download at http://www.adobe.com/go/kb406791.

A manual tweaking solution can also be done for those stuck with the flawed version Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2. Deleting, renaming or removing the authplay.dll file from installations of Reader and Acrobat 9.x will fix the security flaw.

This file can be usually found at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\authplay.dll for Adobe Reader and at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\authplay.dll for Adobe Acrobat. This fix, however, reportedly will not prevent Reader or Acrobat from crashing when a PDF file containing SWF content is opened.

Their product messed up. Their sorry, that’s it.
