Best Buy Insignia Flex: Another Android tablet for penny pinchers

After Google’s Nexus 7, Amazon’s Kindle Fire, and Apple’s iPad Mini, the latest brand that has joined the bandwagon of cheap tablet manufacturers is Best Buy. According to a recent announcement, Best Buy is all geared up to launch its new Android tablet under its in-house brand – Insignia. The tablet, which will hit Best Buy stores on November 11th under the name Insignia Flex, will feature a 9.7-inch screen and will be powered by dual core 1 GHz processor. The tablet has been designed to run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Additionally, it offers 10 hours of battery life, once fully charged.  The Insignia Flex weighs 1.45 pounds, similar to the weight of 9.7-inch iPad that weighs around 1.44 pounds. It will come equipped with a camera that can also be utilized for video conferencing.

Unfortunately, Best Buy has kept other details under the covers. It has not outlined other specifications of this Android tablet, like total amount of RAM, its storage capacity, screen type, or wireless configuration. Designed to cater the lower-end segment, the price of Insignia Flex is kept in line with the other small-screen offerings like 7-inch Samsung Galaxy tab. The new Android tablet is expected to be priced at around $239 to $259. Pricing will definitely give Best Buy an advantage over other entry-level tablets like $399 Apple iPad and $299 Amazon Kindle Fire.

Insignia, the popular brand of Best Buy, has traditionally offered competitive high-definition TVs, Blu-ray players, and other low-cost home electronics to the customers who look for more affordable products. However, with intense competition in the market, Insignia Flex needs aggressive price point and distinguishing technical specs to stand out from its rivals.

With holiday’s season around the corner, buyers longing to buy Insignia Flex can aim for additional discounts and attractive offers on Best Buy stores.
