Samsung® Unveils Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) at Mobile World Congress® 2012

Mobile World Congress 2012 has seen many new launches and upgrades of the coolest mobile devices. Out of them, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is worth mentioning. The company has unveiled its new Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) at the premier exhibition with a promising aspect of being an affordable tablet.

The new tab will run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system. It is equipped with a 1 GHz Dual-Core processor, two cameras, and 32 GB storage capacity with a MicroSD card slot for additional back-up.

The attractive feature about the large-screened tab is its improved resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels. In addition, its previous 4,000 mAh battery is replaced by an 7,000 mAh battery. Although the tab will be a bit heftier than the previous model, it is going to be an ideal tablet for home use.

The tab will be available in two versions — one with 3G connectivity and the other with Wi-Fi. It will arrive in the UK market from March and will be available in other markets later.

BlackBerry® OS 10 likely to get launched at MWC 2012

Research In Motion (RIM), makers of BlackBerry smartphones, will publicize their BlackBerry OS 10 in the Mobile World Congress 2012.

A prestigious event like the Mobile World Congress will unfold some fresh handheld devices running modern mobile operating system like Android and IOS. And one such operating system (BlackBerry) will obtain a major update in the same event.

RIM will take its BlackBerry OS 10 at MWC 2012 and talk about the built-in features. For quite some time, it was informed that the BlackBerry OS 10 will reach the customers this year as one of the spokesperson from BlackBerry said “2012 will be the year BlackBerry 10, so we will show the possibilities of our future operating system, and demonstrate the ability of BlackBerry OS 7, in particular, focusing on NFC technology and applications of that work in conjunction with BBM.” But later it got clear that the company will be focusing at MWC for its release.

Apart from NFC and BBM, the developers would get a specific environment within BlackBerry OS 10 to experience HTML5 on BlackBerry phones along with some capabilities for social apps. However, the BlackBerry devices running the new software are still under way. So, get ready to welcome a faster and a robust platform for your BlackBerry phones. In one way, it is quite certain that once BlackBerry devices (smartphones and tablets) based on BlackBerry OS 10 are out in the market, the market share for RIM will increase a little and might create some tension for other mobile brands.

Green Initiatives at Mobile World Congress® 2012

Mobile World Congress 2012 will not only display the latest technology for mobile devices but will also showcase its innovative green initiatives. The organizers at the event have initiated a systematic project for the maximum reduction of its waste materials.

The waste management team has eliminated the use of all plastic bags at the event and has asked for a paper-free media. All the EVP/Conference bags and lanyards to be used at the event are made out of recycled materials. Even all the communications documents like conference guide, exhibitor catalogue, etc., will be printed on recycled papers.

So far, Mobile World Congress has been able to successfully reduce 55% of its waste materials since 2008. Fira Barcelona’s waste management processes in collaboration with Grinyo has transformed 23.91% of the overall waste generated from the Mobile World Congress into SRF, which can be used for producing alternative fuel for the synthetic diesel industry.
