Taiwanese Company Using Steve Jobs to Promote its Tablet

A new video by a Taiwanese company, Action Electronics, shows a man dressed as Steve Jobs. The man was wearing Jobs trademark turtleneck black sweater, blue jeans, round spectacle, and grey hair. The actor was also wearing white wings and has a halo on his head.

In the ad, the actor introduces the tablet, Action Pad tablet, saying, “Thank God, I can finally play with another pad.”

Action Electronics said that the company was not imitating Apple former co-founder to sell its tablets or mock him, but to show appreciation for his contribution to modern technology. The company also added by saying that it respects Steve Jobs for his work and plans to do the same.

However, everyone did not see this video as Action Electronics explained. Some reverted saying it was disrespectful. An analyst from Gartner research firm, CK Lu commented saying ,“Playing someone dead is not appropriate I’m afraid.”

Apple , however, has not commented anything on the video.

Action Pad tablet runs on Android operating system (2.3.3 version) and is priced at $236.

Apple® recalls iPod® Nano first generation

This is not a news Steve Jobs would be happy about. But every day is not a Sunday. Though Apple is always at the top of its game, but as they say, “Everyone has a bad hair day.” And it’s Apple’s time, to have one now.

It was in 2009, when Apple offered to exchange a few defective pieces of iPod Nano in Korea. But this time, it’s time for the worldwide customers to bear the brunt. Apple has issued a recall of its first generation iPod Nano that were sold in between September 2005 and December 2006. The issue is being traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with manufacturing defects. These defective batteries might lead to overheating. Though no report of mishap is reported, but the ageing batteries are at risk.

If you are the one, who are still using iPod Nano first generation and have bought during the above-mentioned time period, then Apple will happily swap it with new ones. It will take Apple six weeks to do so, according to its website. If you are one of those who are a user, this is what you got to do:

1) Check your serial number here.

2) If your number matches, click here Apple will replace your iPod Nano in 6 weeks.

Last year it was Antennagate that brought Apple in a hard position, but it was almost resolved by a quick fix solution.

Now with Batterygate infront of it, will it rock the empire of Apple? At best Tim Crook will come on the stage assuring the love of Apple for its customer. But this wind in Apple’s empire will soon die out; it seems. After a year iPhone 5 will be launched. And most probably it will again capture the market, raking the highest moolah among its competitors. Let us hope that the hue and cry that has been brought by this Batterygate will soon be forgotten in front of the shine and grandeur of iPhone 5.

TIME® magazine nominates Steve Jobs for ‘Person of the Year’ title

Steve Jobs has a way of being in the company of the chosen. Even after his death last month, this man did it again. TIME has nominated Steve Jobs for its coveted ‘Person of the Year’ award. If he ends up winning then in the history of last 84 years Steve jobs will be the first man to win it posthumously. He was nominated by Brian Williams, the famous anchor of the NBC Nightly News.

According to Williams, Jobs almost changed the way we look into things, he gave us the spirit that you could look at a plastic or a piece of wood and move your finger, that something new was possible. Steve jobs, according to Williams represented the spirit of change, which is why he remains his nominee.

In the year 1927, the main idea behind these awards, was to cover up the embarrassment of not having Charles Lindbergh on its cover after his historic Trans-Atlantic flight. It was decided that there would be a cover story on Charles Lindbergh as well.

Over the years, it has been awarded as an honor and pride to people who made their presence felt in different fields. And the title was changed from Man of the Year to Person of the Year. However, it may raise a few eyebrows when we say that in 1938, Adolf Hitler was awarded with this award. When it was awarded to Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979, there was a huge public outcry. Since then TIME magazine have kept away from awarding disputed figures.

In 1999, TIME magazine named Albert Einstein as the Person of the Century. Mahatma Gandhi and Franklin D Roosevelt were declared runners up.

The year 2010 belonged to Mark Zuckerberg when he was awarded with the title. This year as his friend Steve Jobs is nominated, it’s yet to be seen if he wins it finally or not. But we all know, Jobs would be one happy man up there in the heavenly abode watching his name being announced as the winner.

Apple® iPad® 2

On March 2, 2011, Steve Jobs, who is the CEO of Apple, launched the new version of the iPad tablet computer. iPad 2 is faster than the original, lighter in weight, has two cameras on the front and back, and is priced between 499 and 829 dollars depending on the model.

The iPad 2 has a brand new design with several improvements. When the users will take it in hand, the feeling will be completely different as the device is thinner than the iPhone 4, and its weight has reduced from about 680 to 590 grams. iPad 2 will be equipped with the operating system iOS 4.3 which will also be available for other mobile devices from Apple. Personal Hotspot function is one of the major innovations offered by iOS 4.3. The tablet is equipped with a front camera and another at the rear, and can shoot in high definition (HD). FaceTime video conversations will be possible. However the battery life remains at 10 hours. Commenting on the success of the iPad launched in April 2010 in the United States and the rest of the world, Mr. Jobs remembered that people made fun of them when they used the word “magic” but it proved magical, and people were not sure that its price is competitive. In fact the competitors had trouble matching price and performance similar to those of the iPad.

Apple announced on this occasion that the largest publisher in the U.S., Random House, rendered its catalog of 17,000 digital books available on its online bookstore, iBookstore.
