How to Troubleshoot plugin issues of a keyboard

A keyboard is one of the most important parts of a computer system. It is used to do a lot of activities on your system like browsing or typing a document or you can perform other actions also by punching some keys on the keyboard. It is very important to plug the keyboard into a computer correctly to operate it smoothly and properly. When you will buy a computer it comes with a keyboard but you have to attach it properly into the computer, check the connector when you are connecting the keyboard.

If you are a beginner then read the following steps carefully to plug a keyboard into your computer.

Step1:

The first step is to examine the connector; if you have USB keyboard connector then it will be of rectangular size and if it is PS2 then it will be round shaped. Now a day many of keyboards are equipped with both types.

Step2:

Now you will have to locate the ports on the rear side of the CPU. If you have older computer then may be it would not have the USB port, and then you have to buy an USB adapter from the electronic shop. If the keyboard has PS2 port then you can find it in every computer. When you connect the keyboard into the USB port the computer will automatically recognize it. But if you have PS2 keyboard then you will have to reboot the computer to activate the keyboard connection.

If you are a beginner then you may plug the keyboard in the mouse port, in that case just restart the computer and plug it into the specific port. Now the keyboard should work properly, if it is not working properly again then see the Bios settings as told before. If Bios setting is also OK then you may have a bad port, just go to a hardware engineer and replace the port. Keep some more things in mind like clean the keyboard at regular interval and avoid drinking and eating while working on the keyboard.

How to Troubleshoot the Microsoft Exchange Server installation?

For windows users setting up any software on their machines normally appear to be a very simple job. All you have to do is to select the directory and then keep on clicking next till you reach the last window that says finish. But with Microsoft exchange, things get a little tricky as there many points that must be kept in mind or else the software won’t work properly.

Important Points for setting up Microsoft Exchange Server:

1.   Active Directory

Exchange Server works on the concept of Active Directory. It essentially means that once it has been activated in a network then the sharing process is done by using a centralized machine rather than in a work group. Now this active directory is stored on a server known as domain controller. Although only one is required but it is preferable to half two because these machines need constant reboot hence if their number will be double then they will be able to cater to the clients better.

2.   Catalog Server (Global)

The first domain controller becomes the global catalog server as a result when in function, it can replicate itself multiple times so as to provide efficient usage.

3.   DNS

The setting up of mail boxes and internet browsing is accomplished using DNS protocols. It simply means that when you request for a page over the net. Your DNS server connects to the locations directory and then fetches back the address. Microsoft uses DNS with Active Directory so that you don’t have to depend on ISP servers. The ideal way to set this up is by giving the highest priority to the client DNS list, then to the domain controller and then to ISP DNS. The last configuration is necessary as it acts as a back up in the event of system failure.

4.   IP Addressing

Bu default every internet enabled system comes with a public IP address that is provided by the respective internet providers. But it is recommended to have an internal address for the organization itself. As it helps in rerouting of data faster and safer than public IP addresses.

5.   Naming

It is very important to provide names to the servers as it establishes its unique identity. Most people give general names to their servers thinking that they might be able to protect their servers from the hackers and potential viruses, however that does not makes any difference as both of them look for ports rather than names.

6.   Hard Ware

The essential requirement to load Exchange is 512 RAM although 1 GB is recommended. Any CPU where the prime objective is to run Exchange Server then it should work fine on it. The software requires a 32 GB dedicated partition in the hard drive.

Although the process itself is not very complicated and if you follow the guidelines properly then the installation will be a breeze.

How to Troubleshoot Problems Related to Bluetooth Devices for Vista

Many are the times that in the past that I found myself having trouble with the blue tooth devices on my windows vista. Making it even worse was the fact that I could not be able to establish what exactly was wrong with the devices. It was really frustrating. This will then help to explain why I was overjoyed when I learned how to troubleshoot the blue tooth devices and get to the bottom of the problem. I bet that most of you face a similar problem like the one I had and would love to know how to go about the problem.

Whats the trick?

The tricks and tips for the blue tooth devices are so many. The normal user will want just to fix the device and make it perform the action that he wants done at the moment. However, this is not advisable. You should rather learn the trouble shooting tips to be able to get to the bottom of the problem like I did. I certainly did not regret doing so. I will share with you how I was able to trouble shoot. Here are some of the steps I followed

How do I do it?

The first step would be to check that the device is actually on. Also ensure that it has batteries that you are sure still got power in them. Preferably buy new batteries. This is to establish if power is actually the problem that we have or not. Many might think that this step is not that important but you might be surprised to learn that the problem was actually just power. If you cannot buy batteries you can test the ones you have using a battery tester. This will establish if they got power.

If the batteries are good and the device still is working then you should come to this step. You should check twice the details regarding the device. Many of the products have different directions of use and set up since they are from different manufacturers and that’s why they come with their own manuals. There are usually very little differences between the devices but that might be the problem. For example your device might have two power switches unlike the ordinary. This is why you need to read the details. If you bought the device second hand you should not worry where you will get the device. You can just look it up on the internet.

If you still do not find the problem you can then go ahead to this step. You can start afresh by removing the Bluetooth device and then reading it. To remove it just go to the control panel and choose the option for hardware and click on blue tooth devices. You then click remove the hardware. You then add it back if it was completely gone. The install wizard will help you with the set up. It will be really easy if this is not the first time you have set it up.

If the problem persists then you should seek for professional help.

How to Troubleshoot Error “Stop 0x0000007B” in Windows XP

This article basically describes those issues which can cause the Stop error problem including boot sector viruses and device driver issues or hardware issues, if you cannot resolve the problem after review these issues, then use the general troubleshooting steps. This is intended basically for advanced computer users. If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, then you might want to ask someone for help or contact to the support.

Cause of the troubleshooting

If you want to troubleshoot the issue, then at first read the following four sections to determine if any one of the issues applies to you.

Boot-Sector Viruses

If your computer is infected with a boot-sector virus then you can receive a “Stop 0x0000007B” error message. If the problem is intermittent and you have to start Windows, check your computer for viruses and if you find a virus, then also check any floppy disks for viruses before you use them again

Device Driver Issues

You may have to receive a “Stop 0x0000007B” error message in the following scenarios:

A device driver of the computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process. A device driver of the computer boot controller needs is corrupted. Information of the Windows XP registry (information related to the device drivers’ load during startup) is corrupted. Now Windows XP requires a miniport driver to communicate with the hard disk controller which is used to start your computer. If Windows XP does not supply a device driver for your controller or if Windows XP is using a corrupted or incompatible driver then you must replace the driver with a valid copy which is compatible with your controller and Windows XP.

Hardware Issues

You have to receive a “Stop 0x0000007B” error message if there is a resource conflict between the boot controller and another controller or between SCSI devices and you may also receive this Stop error message if drive translation is not being performed or if drive translation was changed.  Now to troubleshoot this issue:

An IRQ or I/O port address conflict exists between the boot controller and another controller, Windows XP can stops responding (hangs) or displays a “Stop 0x0000007B” error message. If you want to add a new hardware, then at first remove the new hardware or reconfigure it so that it does not conflict with the resources of any other installed controllers. You are using a SCSI hard disk, and then check the SCSI chain for correct termination. If you want to remove any unused SCSI devices then at first make sure that each SCSI ID is unique. Now you have to make sure that drive translation is turned on (if it is required) and it has not been changed.

General Troubleshooting are:

If you receive one of these error messages while you are installing Windows XP, then update the computer BIOS or obtain Windows XP drivers for your hard disk controller, or do both. Use the Last Known Good Configuration feature which may resolve the problem if you recently installed an incompatible device driver for your boot controller. For additional information about repairing Windows XP by using the Setup program you have to use the Repair option with Windows XP Setup. For additional information about restoring a registry backup, you have to restore a registry backup.
