Windows® Phone 7 update for Samsung®

The Windows Phone 7 update for the Samsung Omnia and Samsung Focus smartphones was launched in January 2011. Certain issues have been reported regarding the new update. Microsoft has advised Samsung phone owners to avoid repeated installation attempts till the next update and patch are ready. Microsoft seems to be working on this issue seriously and trying to resolve the said matter to the fullest extent possible.

Notwithstanding the fact that the new update patch still seems to have a problem with some of the phones, real clarity on what is happening is still not there. Whether it is a Microsoft issue or a Samsung issue, it still needs ratification. In some of the phones, as reported by users, un-installation of some apps and freeing up of memory / disk space in some phones is resolving the issue.

It is going to be quite some time now as also a lot of effort is required from Microsoft to re-instill confidence with various manufacturers using the Windows Phone 7 platform as their base. Considering the very low volumes of Windows Phone 7 products in the market, it is high time for Windows Phone 7 to gain better market share.

Through the years starting from Windows 1.0 through Windows 98 and Windows XP, Windows Vista and even the Windows 7, it is common parlance that an OS is introduced, it faces problems, Microsoft introduces a patch, the patch doesn’t work, a new security patch is introduced, the OS crashes, execute a hard reset, and the Microsoft Windows OS is up and running. Whenever, in the past, problems have recurred, Microsoft has been spontaneous in finding ways by introducing new patches for the system.

It is certain that Microsoft will find ways and means of resolving this Windows Phone 7 snag with the few Samsung phones, still in trouble and amicably reposition itself into the market, on a strong footing once again.

Microsoft launches compatible Windows 7 software

There are different operating systems launched by Microsoft which include Windows 98, Windows XP, Vista and most recently Windows 7. Windows 7 is an extension of XP and Vista and most of the desktop and laptop makers are using this as operating system. To run Windows 7 you will have to install compatible drivers, application and other software. Unlike Windows Vista, Windows 7 is intended to focus on the compatibility of the application which Windows vista was not supporting. Bill Gates told reporters that Windows 7 will be more user-centric and user friendly.

Windows 7 has a number of new features, such as advances in touch and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors. There are lot more new features like improved boot performance, DirectAccess, and kernel improvements. If we talk about graphics card the Windows 7 is perfect and it supports different graphics card from different vendors. You can add so many icons, display, calendars, and a gadget for Windows Media center. It can also support various other new applications and features like RAW image formats. These are not supported by previous windows. If you are a developer then Windows 7 has all new set of features for you like it has SOAP based web services in native code, also has new features to shorten application install times.

Software giant Microsoft recently launched Windows 7 and has put up a website to help users troubleshoot various problems. Microsoft is famous for its operating system and there is no need of introduction about Microsoft and Windows. Windows 7 is getting more popularity these days and there are several compatible software available for Windows 7. On the website, you can see a list of all products scouted by Microsoft employees that run on for Windows 7. They update the list every month with a set of new products.

New products should have earned a “Compatible with Windows 7” logo and they will have to go through the various tests Microsoft has designed for compatibility and reliability with Windows 7. From the window product scout you will get entire information and how to get. You will also get a download link and after one click you will be able to download the trial version of the software.

Initially, you will get 58 products including a range of applications optimized for window touch, touch monitors, cameras, TV’s and many more. There are different partners for Microsoft’ software includes Amazon, D-Link, Wildtangent, Epson, Sony, Seesmic and Toshiba.

It seems strange that only 58 products are available online as Windows 7 is out from ages. It works more as a database to search many programs. Windows 7 compatible programs are large in number and you can search them on internet. It is important to get a compatible with Windows 7 logo, this logo means that the product passed all testing procedure form Microsoft and there will be no problem in compatibility with Windows 7.

How to Troubleshoot if Windows 7 is not Shutting Down Properly

Windows 7 was seen as the saviour of millions who were stuck with the Windows Vista operating system. With a sleek look and performance parameters outstripping that of its predecessor, Windows 7 looked to live up to its expectations. It certainly impressed beta testers and garnered glowing reviews. Now all that seems to be in jeopardy with the discovery of a hitch that can potentially ruin its reputation if not checked. This article deals with the unfortunate problem that every person who owns a computer system with Windows 7 on it – Windows fails to start up after a forced shut down. Instead, they are met with the “Black Screen of Death”, similar to the infamous “Blue Screen of Death” that was common in earlier version of Windows operating systems, due to an encounter with a critical error.

Various Windows operating systems, ranging from Windows 95 to Windows 7, face this problem due to a missing file or also when the user enables file compression, as a result of which the operating system compresses. As we have phased out of the age of Windows 95, 98, etc. this issue is more rampant in the latest operating system i.e. Windows 7. So focussing on Windows 7, the main causes of this are

  • When the system is set to enter hibernation or to enter hybrid sleep mode when power button is pressed.
  • Data Execution Prevention is not enabled either in the BIOS or in the Operating System itself.
  • The version of the language that is currently running on the system is a Double-Byte Character Set (DBCS) language. Examples for this are Oriental languages such as Korean and Japanese.

Some exceptional case of this occurring are

  • When the power goes off while the computer is entering hibernation.
  • Hybrid sleep is enabled on desktop computers by default. So, if a desktop computer is configured to enter sleep mode when the power button is pressed, the computer actually enters into the hybrid sleep mode.

Microsoft Support has come out with a solution to fix this persistent problem. It involves insertion of Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 installation disc into the optical drive of the computer. Make sure the primary booting device is set as the DVD-drive. Re-boot the computer and run Windows in normal mode. For those who are having a Windows PreInstallation Environment disc for Windows 7. Additionally, Microsoft has come out with a hot-fix that is capable of solving this pesky problem. The hot-fix can be easily found on the net by searching with the help of a search engine such as Google or Yahoo!, or by simply browsing through the Microsoft Support website. Moreover, Microsoft has acknowledged this problem persists in a particular range of their products. It is expected that they will make the relevant changes to future versions to allow users to enjoy a wholesome computing experience.
