Gateway has recently launched it new range of ZX all-in-one desktop PCs. This is not an unexpected step, as leading PC manufacturers have shown a keen interest in entering this segment. In fact, most of them are ready with their versions of the all-in-one PCs! These PCs have revolutionized the dying market for desktop PCs, as they are compact and have a great aesthetic appeal.
The all in one PC trend was started by Apple with its iMac and other competitors have followed suit. A first look at Gateway’s new product reminds you of iMac, with its sleek design. Like other all-in-one PCs, it has a touch screen display providing for great interaction between the user and his applications! The wireless keyboard and mouse, webcam and integrated high definition speakers make it a compact system, thus giving it a very modern look. It is ideal for home as its contemporary looks make it suitable for installation in any room.
The ZX series has two models with which it will enter the market- ZX4300 and ZX6900.
The ZX4300 is the low end system and comes with a 20” screen, 2.7 Ghz AMD Athlon II X2 dual- core CPU, integrated ATI Radeon HD 4270 graphics, Windows 7 Home Edition (64-bit), 640 GB hard disk, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, integrated 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Multi DVD drive, built in 5W speakers, six USB 2.0 ports, an adjustable LCD stand and many other exciting features!
On the other hand, the ZX6900, comes with a larger 23” screen, Core i3-530 processor (2.93 GHz), Intel’s GMA integrated graphics, an HDMI output, Blu ray/DVD drive and eSATA port. Rests of the features in the ZX6900 are the same as the ZX4300.With ZX6900 the user can indulge in high definition entertainment with its larger screen and Blu Ray supporting capabilities. It is ideal for those looking for unmatched performance in computing. ZX 6900 is priced at $1,019.99 making it a high end purchase, while the ZX4300 is a good buy at $749.99 and serves all general computing needs along with those of entertainment. Each is expected to be ready for shipment from June onwards.
Though both the products look great, they will face stiff competition from the already successful manufacturers in the all-in-one PC segment. This segment has seen a lot of growth in the last few years. Companies like Apple, HP and Dell are already big players in this segment and it will take Gateways quite some time to cement its place in the market. However, Gateway has surely done its calculations and is aware of this fact!
The all-in-one PC segment has taken the market by surprise. Leading analysts predict that these PCs will control over 40 % of the desktop market in the next 3 years. Gateway, knowing this, has surely made the right decision by coming up with the ZX family of all-in-one PCs. These fresh looking PCs are sure to challenge its competitors and who knows, they might even succeed in becoming the top choice in this segment!
