The Samsung Galaxy Pro is a 2.8” display, touch screen feature phone with a QWERTY keyboard, along with a proximity sensor and light sensor. The Android 2.2 Froyo feature phone, has a 800 MHz processor, introduced in a candy bar form factor.
The Samsung Galaxy Pro works on GSM and UMTS as also HSDPA @ 7.2 Mbps data connectivity on Edge. The 103 gm weighing phone has a full QWERTY keyboard and 4 soft keys. A single camera at the back, with 3 MP resolution features auto-focus, digital zoom, Panorama, Face Detection and also Smile Detection is offered with a video capture resolution of 320 x 240 QVGA at 30 frames per second.
The Samsung Galaxy Pro supports multimedia with MP3 and other protocols of audio, MPEG 4, H.263, H.264 and other protocols for video, FM radio and interestingly also has a YouTube player built-in. Android also supports Flash and Flashlite, and also houses basic built-in online service support for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube upload. Voice dialing and voice recording as also Accelerometer and Compass Sensors are interesting features on this phone.
Bluetooth connectivity version 2.1, headset HSP, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, MicroUSB 2.0, USB charging, 3.5 mm headphone connector, computer synchronization are basic features in the phone. The Samsung Galaxy Pro comes with a 512 MB built in memory and provision for up to 32 GB Micro SD and Micro SDHC slots. Predictive text input, e-mail, Google talk and MMS are standard features available.
The document viewer in the Samsung Galaxy Pro supports Office 2003 and Office 2007 versions. The location based service with GPS and navigation are also built in standards. This feature phone looks similar to a Blackberry, in looks.
With one touch access for e-mails, instant messages and social networking accounts, the Samsung Galaxy Pro has access to over 1,50,000 high quality apps and services from the Android Market. This phone has been specially designed as a business phone, where the looks and form factor do not count. In business what counts is performance.
