At some point of time or the other, you might have experienced a situation where you had an urge to get yourself as close to the computer screen as possible. Such a situation arises when the text and images on the screen are unclear enough to decipher from a distance.
How to make your PC easier to see
There can be many ways in which you can make the images or text more clear to decipher than it already is; however, following are five common methods that people usually follow.
- To make the text larger
Making the text and other items on the screen like the folders, icons and the mouse pointer can be made larger. For this, click on ‘start’, go to the ‘Control panel’ option, and select the option that says ‘Appearance and Personalization’. Once you select this, click on the option that says ‘Personalization’, followed by selecting the ‘Display Settings’ option. In the window that opens up, you can adjust the resolution accordingly. - To increase the size of the icons
The icons on the desktop can also be made larger and much easier to see. For doing this, you can right click on the desktop screen, scroll to the option that says ‘View’ and then click on either ‘Large Icons’, ‘Medium Icons’, or ‘Classic Icons’, depending on your convenience. - By using the magnifier
With the help of a magnifier, a part of the computer screen can be enlarged. Some users may not be aware of this feature but this feature is used especially for viewing specific objects on the screen that are harder to see compared to the rest. To open magnifier, you can click on the ‘start’ button, go to ‘All Programs’, and then click on ‘Accessories’. Click on ‘Ease of Access’, then select ‘Magnifier’ and move the mouse pointer to that portion of the screen which you want to magnify. If you are using Windows 7, you need to click on the Views menu after selecting ‘Magnifier’ for selecting the mode which you want to use. - By enlarging the mouse pointer
For this purpose, you can click on the ‘start’ button; go to ‘Control Panel’, and then click on ‘Mouse’ under ‘Hardware and Sound’. Then click on the pointers tab, and click on the drop down menu option under ‘Scheme’ to change to a new mouse pointer scheme. For changing the look of all the pointers, go through the options under ‘Customize’ and click the pointer that you want to change. Then click on ‘Browse’, click on a pointer and then select ‘Open’. - By improving your screen resolution
For this purpose, click on ‘start’, go to ‘Control Panel’, and click on ‘Appearance and Personalization’. After that select ‘Personalization’ and then click on ‘Display Settings’. Move the slider to the resolution you want under ‘Resolution’, and click ‘Apply’.
Although any of the above methods can prove to be very helpful, it is advisable to follow most or all the above methods to ensure maximum clarity of text and images, without having any inconvenience.
