Windows 7 can make your Netbook work slow and you might feel working on a slow computer which is amazingly rich in features. Well not to worry given below are some tips to make Windows 7 work fast on a Netbook computer. The tips given below will stop or disable some of the features on Windows 7 but you might not be using these features on your computer or stopping these features will not affect your sole purpose of buying a Netbook.
Let’s start adjusting Windows 7 Ultimate by first disabling all the unwanted services present in it. This can be done by going to Start and Run (Press Windows Key and Letter R if Run is not available in the Start Menu). In the Run box type Services.Msc. Once the Services window appears disable the following services by double-clicking on them individually and then selecting disable in the start-up dropdown. Application management Service, Bluetooth Support Service, Branch Cache Service, Certificate Propagation Service, Distributed Link Tracking Client Service, IP Helper Service, Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Service, Netlogon Service, Network Access Protection Service, Offline Files Service, Parental Controls Service, Remote Procedure Call Locator Service, Remote Registry Service, Smart Card Service, Smart Card Removal Policy Service, SNMP Trap Service, Storage Device Service, Windows Connect Now – Config Registrar Service, Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, Windows Search Service. These services are listed keeping in mind that you won’t be using your computer in a very advanced manner. In case you feel any service is important then please do not disable it.
Next steps would be disabling the UAC. This can be done by Going Start Menu and opening the Control Panel. In Control Panel open System and Security and then open Change User Account Control Setting and then drag the slider to “Never Notify. After this disable the System Restore. This will be done by again opening the Control Panel and System and Security. Select System and then select System Protection. Click on the hard drive listed there and click on Turn off System Protection. Along with this do slide the Max Usage slider to 1%. Click on OK to save the settings.
Another step would be disabling the Search Indexing. This can be done by Opening the Control Panel and then Programs and Features. There click on Turn Windows Features On or OFF. Once the Windows Features page comes up scroll it down to locate Windows Search. Once you get there uncheck this feature and click on OK. After doing all these changes last step would be to stop all the unwanted and unnecessary programs to start when you boot the computer. This can be done by going to Start and Run (or press Windows + R) and type MSCONFIG. When you get the window open click on the Startup Tab and uncheck all the unwanted programs which you do not want to load automatically. Once done click on Apply and OK.
