Mobile Broadband PIN number is a very critical number and should be manipulated after acquiring sufficient knowledge about it. There are three basic operations which one can perform with their Mobile Broadband Personal Identification Number, namely:

  • Enabling the Mobile Broadband PIN.
  • Disabling the PIN.
  • And changing it to a new PIN.

Enabling Your Mobile Broadband PIN

To enable your Mobile Broadband PIN, go to the Connect to a network. You can access the Link by clicking the network icon in the notifications area.

Go to Properties by Right-clicking the Mobile Broadband Network.

Click the security tab and Enable the Mobile Broadband PIN, type the PIN and click OK.

If by mistake you enter wrong PINs several times, the connection is blocked and will be unblocked only when you type the PIN unblock key (PUK). PUK is obtained from your Mobile operator.

Sometimes your device is not shown in your security tab. But there is nothing to worry, just check everything again and see if your PIN is supported because at times it also happens that the PIN is not supported.

If your device does not show a security tab, it probably does not support PIN. If the enable PIN tab is missing, the PIN might be enabled previously.

Disabling Your Mobile Broadband PIN

Disabling the PIN will deter the security offered by it. It is recommended not to go for it unless necessary. But if it’s your final call to disable the PIN of your Mobile Broadband, then go to the Connect to a network. You can access the Link by clicking the network icon in the notifications area.

Go to Properties by Right-clicking the Mobile Broadband Network.

Click the security tab and Disable the Mobile Broadband PIN, type the PIN and click OK.

As mentioned earlier if you enter Wrong PINs for more than the allowed times, then the connection is blocked and then PUK will be required to gain access again. You have to contact your Mobile operator and verify yourself to get the PUK.

When you enter the incorrect PIN with your connection on then your connection will be closed and terminated till your account is unblocked. Check your security tab and see if your device is shown there because if it is not showing then perhaps your connection’s PIN might not be confirmed.

Changing Your Mobile Broadband PIN

It is also a good practice to keep changing your PIN regularly. As it is a very important password if it keeps changing regularly its secrecy can be ensured. So to change your Mobile Broadband PIN, go to the Connect to a network. You can access the Link by clicking the network icon in the notifications area.

Go to Properties by Right-clicking the Mobile Broadband Network.

Click the security tab and change the Mobile Broadband PIN, type the current PIN, the New PIN and retype the new PIN to confirm it, and click OK.

Please take care that you enter correct PIN otherwise you will have to go through the procedure mentioned earlier.

If your status says ‘connected’ when you enter the incorrect PIN then your connection will be closed and terminated. Then to activate it again you have to personally contact the operator and unblock the account.

It is advisable to store your Mobile Broadband PIN at a place of safety to avoid accidental termination of services.
