Step3:

After typing the above line, go to menu and select “save as”. In the save as window, click the drop down menu and select all file as file type.

Step4:

Now to name this file, type EICAR.COM and then click save.

Step5:

The time you click the save tab, you will get a notification by your antivirus that it quarantined the test file. When you click on the link, you will see information about this test file by Symantec.

If your antivirus found and quarantined this file, it means that the program is working properly otherwise there is some problem in your antivirus. You can update the antivirus or remove it and download another one.

Sometimes the antivirus will not find if automatic scan is not started. In that case, you can scan the whole computer or scan the drive specified.
