Cookies are small text file which gets created automatically when you browse the internet and the websites. Most of the times cookies contains information like some kind of path for advertisement, or your login id, or some validation time etc. Cookies are simple text files and can be opened in any text editor but the information stored in them can not necessarily be understood by us.

Cookies can get accumulated on your hard drive and fill the entire temporary space so it is good if we periodically clear them. Cookies are saved in the temporary internet files folder and can be deleted from there manually. Given below are the ways to clear cookies from different versions of Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer 8

Close all the windows of Internet Explorer and then click on Start and then open the Run box. In Run box type Inetcpl.cpl and press enter. This will open Internet Options Window. Under the General tab click on Delete Browsing History and then uncheck all the check boxes except for Cookies”. Click on delete and this will delete the cookies from your computer. Deletion of cookies can be verified by opening the Temporary Internet Files folder and looking for any .txt file. The Temporary Internet Files folder can be opened by clicking on the “View Files” button under the General tab of Internet Options Window.

Internet Explorer 7

After clicking on this button you will get another Window where you need to check the option ”Delete all offline content” and click on OK. This action will erase all the cookies from your computer. The Temporary Internet Files folder can be opened by clicking on the “View Files” button under the General tab of Internet Options Window.
