How to Get Rid of XP Antivirus?

An XP anti-virus is a spyware which fool users who are inexperienced & new to the Internet world who end up buying them which turns out to be inept anti-virus software. The Trojan viruses or the bugs are the root for spyware and it acts as if it is a legit program, which is actually the main trap.

It initiates by developing the pop-up warning dialogue boxes. Warns you about a virus being present on your hard disk, and tries to trap by offering the “XP Anti-virus” software to help your system get rid of the detected threats and malicious programs on your PC.  However, keep in mind that such messages and software are nothing but a fake.  Get rid of this spy ware from your PC as early as possible to avoid any further ambiguous situation or a serious damage.

Instruction to tackle with the XP Anti-virus

They are certain processes and we will touch plausible ways as follows.

Un-register DLL Files

Step one

Go to the “Start” menu by clicking on it and choose “Run”

Step two

In the window prompted type “cmd” for command prompt in the search bar, and confirm by click on the “OK” tab to start the command prompt dialogue box.

Step three

In the window prompted hit using the keyboard this keyword ‘regsvr32 /uwininet.dll’ and hit on the “Enter” key to un-register the DLL files.

Step four

Repeat the above step and this time type ‘shlwapi.dll.md5’, ‘shlwapi.dll’ and ‘wininet.dll.md5’ and eliminate by clicking on the cross mark of the window.

Delete Files and Folders

Step one

Go to the “Start” menu and find the “Search” tab.

Step two

In the prompted window choose the hard disk option {Local disk C: or Local disk D :} from the menu and choose by checking the “All Files and Folders” box.

Step three

Enter the keyword ‘xpantivirus.url’ and press “Enter” using your keyboard to initiate the search. All the prompted result must be deleted then.

Step four

Repeat the above step for keywords like ‘xpantivirus’, ‘xpantivirus.lnk’, ‘xp antivirus’, ‘shlwapi.dll.md5’, ‘wininet.dll.md5’, ‘shlwapi.dll’, ‘wininet.dll’, ‘xpantivirusupdate.exe’, ‘ntoskrnl.exe’,  ‘xpantivirus.exe’, ‘explorer.exe.md5’ ‘unins000.exe’, ‘install_xp.exe’, ‘download.exe’ and‘explorer.exe’

Step five

Get your PC re-started once you’re done with above steps.

End System Processes

Step one

Click on the “Start” tab and access the “Run” tab. A dialogue box appears in which will be required to type “taskmgr” and press “Enter” to have the “Task Manager” launched.

Step two

In the “Task Manager” dialogue box, choose the “Processes” tab by clicking on it.

Step three

Select “xpantivirus.exe” amongst the list of programs and click on the “End Process” tab to terminate its function.

Step four

Repeat the above step for terminating the functions of ‘download.exe’, ‘xpantivirusupdate.exe’, ‘install_xp.exe’, ‘ntoskrnl.exe’, ‘ntoskrnl.exe’, ‘unins000.exe’, ‘explorer.exe.md5’ and ‘explorer.exe’. Finish the process by clicking on the cross mark which will close the dialogue.

Thus, you can easily get rid of XP Anti-virus with the above steps being followed precisely.
