A new virus program which users of Windows 7 have become victims of is the Win 7 Antispyware 2010. What is utmost confusing is the name. Despite it being a virus, it fakes as an antispyware program which can infect your operating system. It changes its name depending on the interface on the operating system. It becomes Antivirus Vista 2010 on a Windows Vista OS and XP Internet Security 2010 on Windows XP.

Instructions to remove the virus program

By following the instructions below your computer will become free of  would make your computer safe against this infection.

Step 1: Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-malware and the Registry Key Fix Program from a computer which is uninfected.

Step 2: Once the programs are downloaded, transfer/copy these files to a USB Flash drive. If you do not have a flash drive, you can burn them to a disc.

Step 3: Insert the same flash drive or disc in the infected computer, while the fake program is running.

Step 4: Run the Registry Key Fix program at first. Then you’ll get a notification asking you whether you want to allow the data to be added to the disk. Click ‘Yes’.

Step 5: The Anti-malware program should be run next. Just follow the installation procedure and continue with the onscreen prompts, without making any changes to default settings. Once the installation completes, make sure you leave both the Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-malware and Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-malware checked. Select ‘Finish’.

Step 6: After clicking on Finish, the program will start automatically. You can get a message asking you to perform some updates before it scans the system. Let the updates be downloaded and hit the OK button once it is completed. Then you will get to the main screen of the Program.

Step 7: Make sure that the option of ‘Perform Full scan’ is already selected. Then proceed further to click on the Scan button, to let the scan begin.

Step 8: The system will then start being scanned by Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. It may take about 5-15 minutes depending on the system speed. Once the scan is complete, a message would appear stating ‘Scan completed successfully’. You can then click on the ‘Show results’ tab to view the objects found. Click ‘OK’.

Step 9: You will be taken to the main scanner screen. Click on the ‘Show Results’ tab to view the malware detected by the program.

Step 10: You must make sure to check all the boxes next to all the ‘Vendor’ names. Then the ‘Remove Selected’ button is clicked.

Step 11: Once the program removes the detected malware, a scan log is opened and it is displayed in Notepad. Close it after reviewing. Then restart the computer after closing the Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware program.

After following the above steps, the system will no longer be infected and will be malware free. The Anti-Malware program can be removed from the computer however it is recommended to keep the files in the flash drive or disc, in case the computer gets infected again.
