There are very important reasons why someone would want to view the hidden files in the operating system but for me it was only out of curiosity. I tried several time to be able to view this files but to no avail. These files cannot just be accessed from my computer like the normal files. Since am not that patient a person I soon gave up on my curiosity due to the constant failure. However, it was not long till I had to learn how to access these files.
The main important reasons why one would want to access these computers are if the files have been attacked by malware such as spyware or viruses. The viruses might have used this hidden file system to conceal its own files thus you might not get to see them and they will slowly harm your computer. Thus you will have to view this files so that you can trouble shoot the problem. This was exactly what had happened to me and I had to access the files. If you facing the same trouble here is how to view the files.
In windows 98
Click twice on my computer icon that’s on the desktop. Then click on view which is at the top of the window and click on folder options. Then select the tab that reads view in the window that’s new. Down on the list that appears select button that reads show all files. It is located in the section with hidden files. You can then click ok
In windows ME
Click twice on the icon that reads my computer on the desk top. At the top of window select tools menu. Then on the drop down menu select folder options. In the folder options window click on the tab that reads view. Then navigate your mouse to the hidden files and folders section and then click on the show hidden folders and files. Then you should ensure that you uncheck the hide file extensions for known types. Click on apply tab and then ok.
In windows XP
Click twice on the icon for my computer. You should then click on the menu for tools and choose folder options. Then click on the tab for view. You should then navigate your mouse pointer to the hidden files and folders section and select show hidden files and folders. You should also ensure that you uncheck the option to hide file extensions for known types. Then click yes followed by ok.
In windows vista
You should first click on start, then navigate to the control panel. If you are using classic view you should click twice on the folder options and then on the tab that reads view. If your view is the control panel home view you should click on appearance and personalization button. Then you should go to the hidden files and folder part and choose show hidden files and folders. Then uncheck the hide file extension for known types and hide protected operating system files options. Lastly confirm by clicking yes.
With these few pointers you will be able to view the hidden files and get rid of any malware.
