David Wang, who is the member of the iPhone Dev Team has successfully hacked the iPhone to run on an Android OS. The hacked iPhone was displayed on a YouTube video that featured, Wang toying away with the installation of an Android OS on iPhone.
David has demonstrated that one can successfully run an android OS on an iPhone, without any glitch. Some of the key features of the video included, rebooting of the iPhone with the Android OS, making calls, listening to music and opening various Android applications.
The hack is certainly a technical achievement in the gadget world, as demonstrates the technological developments with, limitless potential of the iPhone. However one of the most interesting theories about any hack on Apple products is the ability to maneuver around Apple’s technology policy, as its license “regime” restricts several competitors, to develop application without adhering to Apple standards.
It’s only through these hacks that one can get a true sense of how, vulnerable technology is in terms of security. But at the same time it provides an insight into the actual potential through which, you can utilize application within the domain of a device.
According to David Wang in his blog”, It should be pretty simple to port forward to the iPhone 3G. The 3GS will take more work. Hopefully with all this groundwork laid out, we can make Android a real alternative or supplement for iPhone users.”
iPhone users will certainly await more such hacks. Especially with the leak of the iPhone 4G, let’s see what other loopholes Apple might have left in its iPhone 3G.
