Intel is the biggest and hardware leader in the market. Intel is famous for making Chips and computer hardware like processors and motherboard chipset. Windows phone 7 is growing and becoming more famous among customers. Now Intel and Microsoft are partnering and Intel bosses are saying that they will develop Windows 8 based phone.
At the International CES 2011 talks, Intel told that they are enabling to build Windows 8 powered phones. Recently, Microsoft announced that Windows 8 will support ARM chipsets and Intel is surely going to be benefited from this move of Microsoft. Intel’s CEO Steven Sinofsky told at CES 2011 that the plus for Intel is that as they unify their operating systems, we now have the ability for the first time to have a designed-from-scratch, touch-enabled operating system for tablets that runs on Intel that we don’t have today” and he also mentioned in PC Pro that Secondly, we have the ability to put our lowest-power Intel processors running Windows 8 – or ‘next-generation Windows’ – into phones, because it’s the same OS stack. And I look at that as an upside opportunity for us.
At the CES 2011, he also introduced a technology preview of Microsoft’s Windows ARM support for the Windows 8, the next generation of Windows. Steven Sinofsky also answered some queries regarding the Windows Phone support for ARM chips. He told the reporters that they are not going to speculate about their product line right now. He also said that the form for Windows Phone 7 is uniquely focused on the small form factor that Windows doesn’t focus on. It’s always important to remember that at least two of the other players in this space also have two operating systems each. So figuring out where it seems the boundaries are and what scenarios is something that our whole industry sort of has to think about. At least with us we’re very clear right now, small screen is Windows Phone and these screens (points to laptop) are Windows 7.
Furthermore, Steven Sinfosky also mentioned that there may be possibilities of porting Windows 8 on devices like Smartphones. He is also trying to convey that this whole new concept is latest and new for the industry and people, who are working on it. Going ahead, he told that there is a separate operating system for phones such as, Windows Phone 7 and this is currently going very well with the kind of performance they are receiving. Windows phone 7 also meeting with all company standards.
This Intel and Windows collaboration is exciting technology experts. They are performing well in term of computers with Intel and now in Smartphone, it is a really innovative idea for both of them. The strategy and the market level that they both have, will only going to increase with Windows 8 phones.
