At last, Nokia has officially announced that its NFC-enabled Nokia Lumia 610 handset will be launched on the Orange network in the third quarter of 2012. The new Nokia handset can easily pair with NFC-equipped accessories and tags. In addition, it can support MasterCard PayPassR and Visa payWave NFC payment systems for contactless payments.
According to Ilari Nurmi, head of product marketing for Nokia’s Smart Devices business division, “Nokia continues to lead the field in NFC with this latest implementation on the Windows Phone platform, in which we have the full support of Orange.” “We’re bringing NFC right across our portfolio, and together with our ever-growing range of NFC accessories we’re making it easy for people to connect via a single tap. We’re also enabling operators and other service providers to build NFC payment and ticketing solutions on top of our smartphones.”
The Windows-based Nokia Lumia 610 NFC handset features a 3.7-inch display and 8GB of storage space. In addition, the NFC-enabled handset runs on an 800GHz processor and 256MB RAM. You may still need to wait a bit longer for the pricing details of this Nokia handset.
