According to latest media reports a VLC app has been submitted to the iStore which may soon get approval, most probable by next month. Despite the flourishing market of the apps for Apple products, there are some apps that have not been able to make it through to the iStore.
VLC is just another hybrid product of open source software which seeks to enable users to download it video player for free, and watch a wide range of media files. The greatest advantage of VLC is that it is able to play many types of video file formats which other video players are not able to do so.
The approval of the VLC app may be hindered by the market of video players that are already available on Apple products. As Apple’s products are an exclusive platform through which companies can target their consumers effectively, Apple will have to think carefully in order to allow open source software companies to develop their apps using Apple as a medium.
