Evand Williams has decided to step down as CEO of Twitter and focus on Product strategy of the company.

Evand has been the first CEO of Twitter and was primarily responsible for gearing Twitter to one of the leading social networking websites on the Internet.

Dick Costolo who is the current chief operating officer, will be replacing Evand.

In the past two years Twitter has grown tremendously with a user base of 160 million. However in terms of the business front Twitter lacks profitability despite the huge appeal it carries.

Recently Twitter had been plagued with downtime issues, which were largely affecting the user base. However Twitter shows tremendous profitability as a business, but there are not many strategies to drive them. Evand Williams seeks to drive these strategies.
