Last year Microsoft Corporation unveiled Bing a new decision engine and consumer brand which is providing customers with a first step in moving beyond search to help make faster and more informed decisions. Bing is specifically designed to build the benefits of today’s search engines but begins to move beyond this experience with a new approach to user experience and intuitive tools to help customers make better decisions and focusing initially on four key vertical areas which are: making a purchase decision, planning a trip, researching a health condition or finding a local business.
The result of this new approach is an important beginning for a new more powerful kind of search service which is being called decision engine by Microsoft. Designed to empower people to gain knowledge from the web and moving more quickly to important decisions.
Google search engine is a web search engine owned by Google and is the most used search engine on the web.
Google receives several hundred million queries each day through its various services. The main purpose of Google search engine is to hunt for text in WebPages as opposed to the other data, like with Google Image Search.
Google search provides at least 22 special features beyond the original word search capability. These include synonyms, weather forecasts, stock quotes, time zone, maps, movie show times, earthquake data, airports, home listings and sports scores etc. There are special features or numbers, including ranges, temperatures, calculations, money conversions, package tracking, patents, area codes and language translation of displayed pages.
The correct percentage of the total of web pages indexed by Google is not known. It is very hard to actually calculate and Google not only indexes and caches web pages but also takes snapshots of their other file types which include Pdf, word documents, excel spreadsheets, flash swf, and plain text files.
According to the latest search engine rankings from comscore, only Google and Microsoft grew their market share while Yahoo, Ask and AOL lost their market share.
Google increased its lead by 0.2 percent points to more than 66 percent.
Yahoo got second place, slipped by 0.2 percent points to 16.5 percent.
Google is the most used web search engine because most of the people who are using Internet and browse the web and use search engines prefer Google.
