Recently in a conference, Microsoft has once again released another new and improved cloud with new features and incentives, offering it to small businesses. The new and improved cloud has different tools and incentives that allow new businesses to establish different partners in the fast paced world of technology. The reason for Microsoft’s actions is that these businesses can now transfer their different information and skills on to the web without inconvenience. But before we go on and about the new features and Microsoft’s future plans regarding the cloud, what exactly is a cloud?
In the technological world, the cloud is like the internet, vast and comprised of different host service partners all grouped into one that share software, resources and services. This type of model allows budding as well as flourishing businesses to establish resources and services without the hassle of having to build a whole new web infrastructure from scratch. These services include subscription to the different service and resource sites as well as pay-per-service.
Cloud computing services include three different kinds of services; the first one being infrastructure as a service, this is where businesses outsource the equipment used over the web. The service partner involved usually owns the equipment provided and is in charge of maintaining it as well as the housing; this is usually a pay-per-use service in the cloud. The second service is platform as a service, this is another way to rent hardware online where the customer can rent associated servers that are relevant for running existing and related application as well as test new applications; customers can update and modified to his or her advantage and tastes, which is one the advantages of the platform as a service. The last main category of the services offered in cloud computing is software as a service, this is when servers distribute servers online ; the provider allows the customer to use the applications in the software on demand, either through subscription or par-per-service method.
Now that we have cloud computing defined, let us go back to Microsoft. It is now updated with new features as well as incentives for businesses. The Microsoft cloud’s existing services such as instant messaging and mail are still there, making correspondence between the different service providers and the customers easier for both sides. Instead of having to go through the burdensome process of calling and faxing each other, the Microsoft cloud’s mail and instant messaging services allows a more convenient correspondence with hastier replies and availability. Aside from including these existing features in the package, Microsoft has also created new infrastructure services such as storage space and alerts that allows developers to add to the foundations and programs. Along with these new and existing features included in the package, Microsoft has also added sales support services as well as packaging tools for the better service of its customers that are there to help partners in the process of becoming a part of its cloud as sales service providers. All in all, we can see that Microsoft is indeed making a big change in the technological world, trying to encompass it in its cloud for everyone’s convenience.
